JOB GOAL:   

To establish and maintain, according to the Little Rock School District and Athletic Department, goals and objectives that will lead to a competitive soccer program.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

This coaching position is tied to a  (9.25) month teacher contract (190 days), plus stipend and benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement on the salary range will be determined based upon experience and education. FLSA: EXEMPT

 

 TEACHERS SALARY SCHEDULE:

 

Teaching assignment to be determined based on teacher certification area(s).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree minimum. 
  2. Must have a valid Arkansas teacher’s license. 
  3. Must meet State Department of Education requirements for coaching endorsement. 
  4. Must meet Arkansas Activities Association requirements for coaches. 
  5. Evidence of strong commitment to quality education.
  6. Must have experience or a desire to work in a diverse school district.
  7. Enhanced knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
  8. Knowledge of Arkansas Activities Association (AAA Handbook) rules.
  9. Demonstrate the ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
  10. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   1. Meets and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the times designated. 
  2. Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. 
  3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 
  4. Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor. 
  5. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. 
  6. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and – in harmony with the goals – establishes clearly objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. 
  7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. 
  8. Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. 
  9. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required. 
  10. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
  11. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. 
  12. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner. 
  13. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms. 
  14. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence. 
  15. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. 
  16. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in sport involved.
  17. Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.
  18. Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  19. Develop an academic program for student-athlete for NCAA Clearinghouse scholarship eligibility and ACT preparation.
  20. Maintains, files, and copies all pertinent LRSD/AAA materials, eligibility forms, transfer forms, grade reports, and ensures the LRSD/AAA guidelines are followed.
  21. Adheres to District, State and Arkansas Activities Association’s regulations regarding eligibility of players. 
  22. Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
