JOB GOAL:
Under the supervision of the school principal, Classified ISS Assistant serves the educational needs of “at-risk” students as assigned. The Classified ISS Assistant provides specialized assistance to students and educators – addressing social, behavioral, and academic needs of students, in addition to classroom paraprofessional duties, etc. This position seeks to resolve issues at the earliest possible level and in the least stigmatizing way.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Pay 706 – Range 04 – $19,034 - $33,535 Nine and one-quarter month contract, (190 days) plus benefits package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based on education and experience. FLSA: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree required. Must have at least two years of full-time paid experience in a public school regarding the implementation of positive behavior interventions and educational programming for students performing below grade level. Experience working with special needs students preferred.
- Computer and Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to use a computer and write simple correspondence. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to effectively analyze and communicate data orally.
- Customer Service Skills: Must be capable of interacting effectively with administrators, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and the general public using tactful and helpful customer service.

- Provide assistance and support to classroom teachers in maintaining effective records for students
- Assist with providing identified intervention needs of students.
- Support and/or administer progress monitoring for students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- Develop effective partnerships with teaching staff to secure high levels of student academic achievement.
- Performs related clerical and record-keeping duties.
- Assist in organizing activities to promote a positive school climate: supervising conflict resolution sessions with students, motivating parents to become active supporters of school programs, as well as active participants regarding individual student programs, and answering parental questions, as appropriate.
- Maintains professional and cooperative working relationships with classroom teachers of the assigned students, classroom teacher, resource teacher, school psychologist, and administrative staff
- Model effective behavior management strategies for students in need of intervention.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and downstairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone, and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by the immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
