JOB GOAL:  

 

The Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) Grant Project Coordinator manages all aspects of the MSAP grant project for the school district. This includes overseeing the implementation of the magnet program in participating schools, the project finances, and the work of the evaluator(s) and partners. The MSAP Project Coordinator maintains regular communications with the assigned ED program officer and compiles and submits all required reports. The Project Coordinator also ensures compliance with all applicable federal regulations.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

 

11-month contract (220 days), plus benefit package. (Class Code: 1620) Salary Schedule: 123__Range ______. NOTE:  Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.  FLSA:

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Building-level and/or district-level administration certification required.
  1. Master’s degree preferred.
  1. At least five (5) years of successful experience in education with special magnet focused interest/experience in curriculum and professional development.
  1. Experience in administration required.
  1. Knowledge of the school and District policy and procedures.
  1. Strong interpersonal skills.
  1. Evidence of strong organizational skills.
  1. Knowledge of best practices featured in magnet schools.
  1. Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
  1. Evidence of strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.   1. Responsible for recruiting, hiring and supervising the district magnet staff.
  2. Responsible for directing implementation of the MSAP grant as specified in the grant and at each MSAP school (Carver, King, Mann and Dunbar).
  3. Coordinates regular meetings with magnet MSAP guidelines and builds a professionalsupport networks among school-based staff with similar responsibilities and interests.
  1. Provides workshops and organizes conferences for school and district leaders and teachers on the latest evidence-based practices, thematic interdisciplinary curricula, designing and implementing an inclusive curriculum, technology and arts integration, PBL, cultural competence, and other strategies being piloted by the magnet school programs.
  2. Develop cohorts of teacher leaders, including recruitment teams and curriculum design teams, to ensure the sustainability of the magnet programs well beyond the funding period.
  3. Coordinates district-wide and school-based staff training activities, including those facilitated by outside agencies.
  4. Works in collaboration with SchoolMint to provide technical assistance to magnet school leadership on outreach and recruitment efforts, including organizing multimedia advertising campaigns, developing promotional materials, (e.g. brochures, press releases), and planning events such as open houses and school tours.
  5. Monitoring the applicant pool and enrollment data for the magnet and feeder schools.
  6. Develops positive community support for the district’s magnet programs through public presentations at widely advertised parent workshops and other community forums.
  7. Serves as the primary liaison to the USDOE MSAP Program Officer and ensures compliance with all requirements laid out by the USDOE and the Office for Civil Rights.
  8. Monitors all project expenditures and provides school staff with technical assistance in meeting fiscal and budgetary guidelines.
  9. Serves at the liaison to the project evaluator, assisting schools in the collection of required program data and documentation; provides feedback to the evaluator on procedures, prepares required reports and disseminates results to key stakeholders.
  1. Prepares federal reports, board reports and other reports related to the MSAP grant.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
